Peacefully on Saturday, January 18th, 2020 at Millenium Trail Manor at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Norma (nee Gilby) for 56 years. Loving father of Judi (late John), Mark (Arlene) and the late Michael (Darlene). Dear Papa of Bethany (Chris), Dakota, Dalton, Alyssa, Makayla, Vanessa, Blake. Great Papa of Meadow, Nevaeh, Kobryn. Survived by brothers of Gord (Bev), Ronald, Louis, sisters Linda, Diane and predeceased by brother George (Flo). Predeceased by his parents Walter and Eva. He will be sadly missed by many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Bill worked for General Motors for 35 years before retiring in 1991. Cremation has taken place. KENNY, Thomas Edward
Peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 at the age of 56. Predeceased by his parents James 'Jim' (2017) and Mary Lenore (2005). Survived by his partner Grant. Loved brother of Bryan (Tracy). Dear uncle of Kiri, Douglas, Anthony and great uncle of Vincent, Mariah and James. Tom will be sadly missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. Tom enjoyed the outdoors especially going north fishing with his parents, brother and cousins. He was employed with General Motors for 36 years. The family will receive friends & family at the HAINE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Friday  from 6:00-9:00pm. Vigil Prayers will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 7:00pm. PEART, Stanley James
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family announces the passing of Stanley James Peart of St. Catharines, Ontario, formerly of Timmins, Ontario after a short, but courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the St. Catharines Hospital at the age of 75. He leaves behind his loving wife Gisele Peart (Sasseville), sons James Peart and Allan Peart, grandson Joshua Peart and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter Emily Peart. He also leaves behind his brother Kenneth (Penny) Peart as well as three great-grandsons and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father (Pearl and Edward Peart), three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law. Stan and his family spent many years living in the country where he took great pride in organic gardening, growing some of the finest fruits and vegetables to eat. He also enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing. With a passion for music, Stan spent many years playing his guitar in a traveling band as well as playing with local musicians in both the Timmins and St. Catharines area. The family wishes to extend a thank you to all of the doctors and nursing staff who helped in Stan's care. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and funeral arrangements are entrusted to the HAINE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadain Cancer Society.


PANTANO, Maria Marietta (Curcio)
Peacefully on Saturday, January 4th, 2020 at Oakwood Park Lodge at the age of 79. Beloved wife of Carmine 'Fantino' for 50 years, celebrating their 50th anniversary in September. Loving mother of Carmine (Julia) Morelli, Frank (Fiorella) and Assunta 'Susie' (Jesse) Pascuzzo. Dear Nonna of Michael, Alex, Christina, Laura Maria, Maria Lisa, Carmine and Sabrina. Predeceased deceased by husband Carmine Morelli. Survived by siblings Luigi (Yolanda) Curcio, Rosetta (late Chris) Grano and Aldo (Giuseppina) Curcio. Maria was a Master Seamstress. Peacefully on Wednesday, January 1st, 2020 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital in her 91st year. Predeceased by her husband John (1993). Loving mother of the late Donnie (Argine), Connie (late Don Ellison), Karen (Frank) Cappelli, Colleen (Gerry) VanLeeuwen, Kelly Pearson (late Brian Nicholson), Kandy (Todd), Katie (Alex) Gillis, Kevin (Sheila). Dearly loved by many granchildren and great granchildren. Predeceased by son-in-law Rick Pearson. Will be sadly missed by her best friends Anna Smythe & Paul Dickinson. Predeceased by brother Walter (Margaret) Gunn, sisters Willa (Mike) Codey, Gwenyth (Colan) Watt and Irma (Bob) MacDonald. Shirley was member of St. Patrick's Church, Merritton for over 65 years and the CWL, St. Vincent dePaul Society and the Irish Club. Shirley was also an avid Blue Jays fan. MICHAUD, Leonard Martin
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leonard Martin Michaud (Thorold, Ontario), who passed away peacefully on December 30, 2019. He was predeceased by: his parents Edmond and Helen Michaud. He is survived by his loving wife Jane (Ely); brother Peter (Cathy) Michaud, and sister Joan (Ken) Brown; his children, Karen (Michael) Ferrelli and Daniel (Jennifer) Michaud; his grandchildren, Daniella, Zoe, Michael and Amelia. Len was a life long educator, beginning his career in 1967 at Holy Rosary School, Thorold, then St. Aloysius, Thorold South, St. Kevin's in Welland and retiring from Cardinal Newman School in Niagara Falls in 2000. Many thanks to the wonderful relatives, friends, neighbours, caregivers who helped Len throughout his journey. FREEMAN, Hubert Lawson

It is with sadness that uncle Hubert's nieces and nephews announce his departure to the next stage of his life in his 92nd year at Linhaven Home for the Aged on Sunday, December 29th, 2019. Predeceased by his father Leslie (1929), mother Bessie (Boucock) (1973), brothers William (1993), Vernon (1997), George (2004), beloved sister Ida Muir (1999), sister Joyce Hallport (2013). Hubert was employed by Provincial/Fraser Paper Company Thorold for 30 years as billing supervisor retiring in 1988. Prior to that he was employed by Hayes Dana as a buyer for 10 years. Hubert was a lifetime member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Thorold, an Elder of the congregation and a Trustee. Uncle Hubert is survived and loved by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews as well as friends here and abroad. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (24 Clairmont St., Thorold) on Saturday, January 4th at 11:00am. SUTTON, John Roland 'JACK' (WWII Veteran)
It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our dad Jack. Affectionately known as the "The Candy Man" at the well-lived age of 97 on Friday, December 27th, 2019. Born to parents Lily and Percy Sutton and predeceased beloved wife Glenna (2001) and baby daughter (1963) and brothers Percy, Morris & sister Doris. Loving dad of Linda (Don) Ivey, Sandra (Jim) Matier, Judy (Gary) Boyuk and Cindy (Joe) Minicucci. Proud grandfather of Christopher (Kelly), Shannon (Nathan), Mark (Stacey), Michael (Christina), Amy (Darren), Lindsay (Shawn), Brandon (Paige) and 14 great-grandchildren and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and his beloved cat "Mini". Our dad was enlisted in World War II from 1943-46 and upon his safe return, was employed at the Ontario Paper Company until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed making 36 family trips to New Brunswick and you would easily spot him weekly at the Thorold Arena from his eloquent ice skating style until he was 80 years old. With the skates off, Jack was the consummate tinkerer of all things mechanical - especially his cars. On occasion, a fun visit to see the horses or play at the casino. Our family would like to give heartfelt gratitude and great appreciation to Dr. Tim Tatzel and his staff for their constant care, gentle compassion and kindness extended to our dad for many years. Thank you to Kelly Roy of the LHIN, Julie & staff at Woodlands Senior Day Centre, the Paramed PSW's for seeing that Jack's day started off well. To the "Nurse Next Door" for their personal service and to Henderson's Pharmacy (John & staff) for their kindness and exemplary level of service. Thank you to the staff and all his friends at Shorthills Villa where Jack resided and called it home for the last 8 years. Dad's favourite saying was: "You are only as old as you think you are" - A great lesson passed down to all of us! Upon Jack's wishes, a private family-only visitation will be held. The family invite friends and family to a service at St. John's Anglican Church (12 Carleton St. S., Thorold), on Thursday, January 2nd at 10:30am followed by burial at Pleasantview Cemetery, Hwy. 20, Fonthill. CHERNUSKY, Lori Christine

Peacefully after a long Illness at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, Niagara Falls on Thursday, December 19th, 2019 age 58 years. Leaving behind a loving mother Verna Chernusky, brother Johnnie and her faithful dog Teddy who she absolutely adored. Predeceased by Edward "Bucko" Chernusky, grandparents Nana and Papa Chernusky and Maurice and Jessie Gatfield. Also leaving behind Aunt and Godmother Shirley Allan and Aunt Emilie Soyka along with many cousins and friends. Lori worked and lived most of her adult life in Toronto. A special thanks to the ICU staff and Doctors Rajagopal and Masood of the Niagara Falls Hospital, thanking them for their wonderful care. The family will receive their friends at the HAINE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Monday, December 23rd from 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. SHANDERSKY, Vera
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Vera Shandersky on December 12th, 2019 at the age of 83. Predeceased by her husband Walter (2010). Loving mother of Anna Kokotka and husband Stan of Beamsville, Mary Lesiuk and husband Lawrence of Hamilton and Olga Borge and husband Jan of Port Coquitlam, BC. Cherished grandmother of Daniel, Laura, Erik and Evan. Survived by her siblings Nadia Duranovic, Izidor Nebesny, Bohdan Nebesny, Luba Atalick and Julian Nebesny. Vera was a beautiful soul who had a deep love for her children. Vera was born in Bosnia, (former Yugoslavia). She immigrated to Canada in 1959 and shortly afterwards married Walter. Vera was a truly devoted Mother who enjoyed gardening, home canning, as well as sewing and knitting. Vera was a dedicated member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Myrhorod (Ukrainian Seniors) and Ukrainian Catholic Women's League. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Tufford Retirement Manor where Vera resided and lived comfortably for the past 3-1/2 years. CUNNINGHAM, Kevin Merle “Cap”
On Saturday, December 7th, 2019 In his 59th year. Survived by his daughter Jillian, brothers Steve and Mike, and many nieces and nephews. He worked on the ships, at E.D. Smith and the Fallsview Casino. He loved hockey - especially the Washington Capitals, fishing and Nascar. Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 24 Clairmont Street, Thorold on Saturday, December 14th at 2:00 pm. Peacefully on Thursday, December 5th, 2019 in her 93rd year. Predeceased by her husband, Doug Bush. Loving Mom of Betty Ann (Randy) Mazzei and Dave (Tracy) Bush. Dear Grandma of Jeff (Kinza) Mazzei, Chris (Faduma) Mazzei and Carly Bush. Great Grammie of Yusuf Mazzei. Longtime member of First Baptist Church, Thorold. Past volunteer to many charitable organizations. Former Club Champion at Lookout Point Golf Club and Beechwood Golf Club. Her kindness will not be forgotten. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leo Pelletier, a great husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend on October 20th, 2019 in his 83rd year. Leo passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving devoted wife, family and friends. Leo lived a full life and will be forever missed by those that loved him and cared for him, his wife of 17 years Miranda Pelletier, his family and friends, Shirley (Richard), Larry (Sharon), Joey (Hailey, Payten, Mia), Doris, Robin, Bradley, Jessica, Fabian and Desmond. Leo worked for General Motors for 40 years and enjoyed playing pool, golfing, bingo, the casino and dancing. Cremation has taken place.
